The Parish of St. Catherine of Siena at Lowton

Death of our Cafod Champion

It is with a great sense of loss and sadness that we announce the death of JOHN HUMPHREY. He died suddenly on Thursday evening, May 23rd. aged 64.
His Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Catherine's on May 31st. with large congregation of family, friends, parishioners and business colleagues. His family thank all those who attended for their prayers, support and sympathy. John has devoted enormous energy and time to the cause of Justice and Peace both at home and abroad. He has championed the poor, the hungry, political prisoners, asylum seekers; he has promoted the cause of Cafod, Christian Aid, Amnesty International, SPUC and Life and was just now promoting the cause of Fair Trade for third World Countries. He did so much for the cause of others quietly and unassumingly, without ever promoting himself, that his loss to us is quite immeasureable.
We pray for John and for Mel his wife who was always at his side and all his family who will miss him ever so much.
May he rest in peace and rise to eternal glory. Amen.
